How to enjoy the holiday without guilt

The holiday season is closing in and we are near the part of the year where the feasts and endless celebrations begin. For some of us, the holiday seasons create happiness deep within our hearts that allows us to enjoy our time with our friends and family. However, sometimes it can create pressure in you to act a certain way.

Here at Naija Exclusive TV, we will show you how you can enjoy the holiday season without feeling guilty about not following traditions. It is time to ditch the customary acts that you don’t feel comfortable with and enjoy the yuletide season as a time of joy and love. Regain your passion for the holiday season by following the tips below and answering a few questions:

What do you want your holiday to look and feel like?

To achieve the perfect holiday, you need to ask yourself what you want. What would the perfect yuletide season look like for you? Find your answer by closing your eyes for a few seconds and imagine a fun holiday. Write down what you see and how it made you feel to filter the things that matter.

Why is it important for you to change your holiday traditions?

Before you go about doing drastic changes in your celebration, you need to identify first why you want some things to change in the way you celebrate the holiday season. Knowing the why behind your desire to create change gives more meaning to the things that you do and it builds your drive to make it the best holiday for you.

Whenever you start feeling pressure to act a certain way on holidays, just remember your whys and it will help you realign yourself and stay on track with what you want to do.

What about the holiday stresses you out the most?

Ask yourself what truly stresses you out about the holidays. This will help you pinpoint the stressors that you have concerning holidays. From this point on, you can review your feelings about your stressor and change your perspective of it.

Realistic and effective ways to study

Do you often find yourself feeling stressed out about your studies? Well, you’re not alone. We’ve all been there and we will help you navigate your way out of this problem with some of the most effective and realistic tips we have right here at Najia Exclusive TV.

We won’t give you nonsense and unachievable goals. Instead, what we will show you is a list of tips that are easy to achieve and do. Let’s get right to it!

  1. Turn off your notifications

This one is something that most of us forget to do while studying. Your phone and other gadgets are a major source of distraction and it could take so much of your time away from studying. If you observe yourself enough, every time you study and your phone pings, it takes away your attention from your notes and books.

While this isn’t much of a big deal, we often don’t notice that instead of a few seconds we take hours looking at our phone instead of studying and before you know it, you’re already too tired to study.

The best way to deal with this is to turn off the notifications from your phone and only set alerts for people who matter.

  1. Keep your phone out of your sight

This tip follows the simple logic of out of sight, out of mind. You wouldn’t be tempted to check your phone all the time if it isn’t anywhere near you. For that reason, we recommend hiding your gadgets in spots that you wouldn’t see so that there is less distraction.

  1. Get help from an app or a friend

There are countless applications available online that are specially designed to help you focus on your studies. You can download these apps on your mobile, tablet or laptop to aid you in your study sessions. If you are still having difficulties, you can even ask your friend to give you a helping hand. Call each other and just build a relaxing atmosphere where both of you sit in silence to study. Having a friend around would help you keep yourself on track.

  1. Take a break and take care of yourself

Most of the time, we tend to cram during study sessions and while that seems like a part of every student’s struggles, it isn’t a good way to go. Not taking a break can create tons of problems including stressing yourself out, putting yourself under pressure, loss of attention and even weariness.

If you feel like you can’t go on any longer and that the lessons are starting to become too much for you, it would be better to take a rest and just relax until you find the right footing again.

You should set an alarm or a schedule where you limit your study time to 30 minutes then take a break for 10 minutes before continuing again.

  1. Organize lecture notes

This one is something that most students ignore since they hurry to take notes and that’s fine! However, the way that your notes look can affect your studies. First of all, if your lecture notes are disorganized, then your thoughts would also go into shambles.

To organize your thoughts, you can take time out of your day to rewrite your notes in a more organized manner on a new and clean notebook. This doesn’t just help you organize your notes, but it also helps you recall the lessons as you write.

  1. Join or create a study group

Studying is always more fun with friends around! To set a fun and enjoyable mood for your study session, invite other people to study with you and take time to encourage each other to work in your best attitudes while studying. What’s amazing about this is that you can also ask your friend’s opinions in lessons that you don’t understand.

  1. All ways leave time for a last-minute review

Do you find yourself often forgetting about a few details from your review? Here’s where the organized notes really come into play. Since your notes are organized, it would be easier for you to find your answer last minute and not have to go through several lecture notes only to fail to find what you are looking for.

  1. Aromatherapy, plants and music!

Setting up calming music and having plants around you isn’t just for aesthetic purposes. According to studies, essential oils, music and the presence of nature around us can help the mind concentrate better.

When searching for the perfect essential oil, we recommend purchasing lavender and tea tree oil if you want to keep a relaxing atmosphere in your room. However, if you want to increase your focus, you should look for Boswellia, frankincense and sandalwood.

Meanwhile, plants can have a comforting effect on your mind and body. Along with these, music can improve your brain functions and help you focus more on all the tasks at hand.

  1. Avoid social media

This one is obvious for all of us. Social media is a major source of distraction, especially when you are studying and trying to focus on your work. To avoid checking your phone for new updates on what your fave celebs are doing or what is happening in your friend’s life, you should turn off all social media notifications and keep your phone away from you. Avoid social media as much as you can even when you are not studying.

You can do this by replacing it with a more productive hobby like reading. By allowing yourself to read more, you actually train your mind to the habit of studying.

  1. Understand the best learning style for you

We all have different learning styles and what might work for your friend doesn’t necessarily mean that it would for you as well. Find what makes learning easy for you whether it is reading, watching or talking with your friends. Find what works for you and improve on it!
